During a controlled cooling, does a digital kiln fire down

Updated on Jan 24, 2025

During a controlled cooling, a digital kiln turns on the elements intermittently to maintain the programmed firing rate. The slower the programmed rate, the more often the elements turn on. If the vent causes the kiln to cool faster than normal, the elements will turn on more frequently. So, the controller will maintain the same cooling rate. The cool-down time will be the same whether or not you run the downdraft vent.
