Is it okay to fire stoneware pieces over the gap formed between half shelves?

Yes, as long as the gap between the shelves is not too wide. If your clay sags into the gap between the shelves during firing, then space the shelves closer together the next time.
Is it okay to fire ceramic glazed ware and greenware in the same load? Is it okay to fire Styrofoam and packing peanuts in a kiln as armatures for clay projects?
