Receiving Your Kiln

We ship thousands of units each year, with only a small percentage experiencing freight issues. Understanding how freight delivery works will help ensure a smooth arrival.

Delivery Basics

Smaller Paragon kilns are generally shipped via FedEx or UPS, making delivery simple and convenient. For your protection, Paragon requires a signature upon delivery so you can take a moment to inspect the package before accepting it. This helps ensure your kiln arrives in the condition it should and allows any visible issues to be addressed right away.

Medium Size and Large kilns are delivered via commercial freight to curbside or the front of your driveway. This standard service does not include uncrating, placement, or setup. Residential deliveries usually require a lift gate, which must be requested at the time of order.

If you anticipate access challenges—such as gravel roads, steep driveways, narrow streets, or low clearances—please let us know in advance. Options may include meeting the truck nearby, terminal pickup, or delivery via a smaller box truck.

Unloading Options

Once your kiln arrives, there are a few ways to handle unloading and placement, depending on your space, equipment, and comfort level:

Hire a local package-handling or moving service: Many customers choose a local service experienced with heavy equipment. These teams can help off-load the crate and move it into your workspace for an additional fee. This option is especially helpful for larger kilns or tight spaces.

Unload the kiln yourself: If you prefer to handle unloading on your own, be sure you have the proper equipment (such as a pallet jack, dolly, or forklift) and enough help on hand. Planning ahead will make the process safer and smoother.

No matter which option you choose, taking a few moments to prepare before delivery can help ensure a stress-free experience when your kiln arrives.

Inspecting Your Shipment

All shipments are FOB origin, meaning ownership transfers when the kiln leaves our facility. Inspection upon delivery is essential.

  • Minor visible damage: Note it on the delivery paperwork, take photos, and inspect contents immediately.
  • Severe visible damage: Refuse the shipment and document everything with photos.
  • Concealed damage (damage discovered after unpacking): If damage is discovered after the kiln is unpacked, notify the carrier and Paragon within 5 days. Keep all packaging materials.

Before Unpacking – Photo & Video Documentation

Before opening the crate or box, take clear photos or video of the packaging from all sides. Continue documenting the process as you unpack, especially if you notice broken boards in crates, crushed areas, holes in boxes, or any visible damage to the kiln. This documentation is essential to help support a freight claim if damage is discovered.

If a claim is needed, documentation typically includes the carrier’s claim form, bill of lading, Paragon invoice, freight bill, inspection report, and repair estimate.

We’re here to help at every step. If you have questions before ordering, during delivery, or after your kiln arrives, our team is just a call or message away. Thank you for choosing Paragon—we’re honored to be part of your work.
