MULTIZONE - CHAMBER DEPTH 14" - CERAMIC FIBER INTERIOR

Ceramic fiber firing chamber for fast heating and cooling

The KM Pro line is unusually fast, because it is made with space-age ceramic fiber. It can reach 500°F in minutes. Long lasting, “wavy” elements in the walls are surface-mounted to dissipate heat rapidly and prolong element life. It is the ideal size for the smaller knives.

Long lasting solid state relay

Our KM Pro line features a solid-state relay, which outlasts standard mechanical relays and provides superior temperature control during holds. With no moving parts, solid-state relays are highly durable and operate silently—you'll only hear the reassuring hum of the heating elements. To ensure optimal performance, the relay is mounted on an aluminum heat sink to stay cool. For added safety, a secondary safety relay is included for your peace of mind.

2 zone temperature control for superior heat distribution

The KM14 Pro offers precise heat distribution throughout the length of the firing chamber. This is because it is divided into two zones. Each zone has its own thermocouple, or temperature sensor. The Sentinel controller electronically adjusts the temperature of each zone. See for yourself--test for temperature uniformity by taking measurements along the length of a blade with a Rockwell Hardness Tester.

The guillotine door for years of comfortable heat treating

The guillotine door is the ultimate choice for heat treating. The door lifts up and out of the way with one-handed operation. The hot side of the door remains away from you. The door lifts effortlessly with the assistance of a spring on each side. Because of the rigid case and heavy duty opening assembly, the door is sturdy enough for years of faithful service.

Door safety switch

The door micro safety switch shuts off the power to the elements when the door is opened, yet the controller continues to give a temperature readout. The safety switch is standard on Paragon KM furnaces.

Choose from the optional paint colors

As shown in the photos, the standard knifemaking furnaces are painted a deep black, which would look perfect in your shop. You can choose a different paint color at no extra charge.

Optional Knife Makers Heat Treating Kit

Contains 1 pair hot gloves, 1 heat treating fork, 4 knifeholders, and 8 knifeholder supports. You will need the kit if you remove all the blades together. If you remove them individually with tongs, you will need only the hot gloves and the knifeholders.

Optional Gas Injection Flow Meter

During heat treating, scale forms on the surface of the steel. One way to eliminate most scaling is to wrap the steel in stainless steel foil. Another way is to install the gas injection flow meter on your furnace. It is available as either an add-on kit, or you can order the furnace with the meter installed.

The meter regulates the flow of an inert gas, such as argon, inside the furnace. The gas displaces the oxygen to prevent most scaling.

Please remember that results with the flow meter vary depending on the type of inert gas you use and your level of experience.
