PARAGON CT102322 Janus: Your Complete Studio Solution for Both Ceramics and Glass

Built on the Ceramic Top legacy—redefined with Janus dual-mode versatility.
The PARAGON CT Series—short for Ceramic Top—offers unmatched reliability, thoughtful design, and robust performance trusted by artists and educators around the world. With the PARAGON CT102322 Janus, you get all the benefits of the best-selling CT102322 model—plus the power to fire both pottery and glass in one intelligently engineered kiln.

Equipped with top and sidewall heating elements and a manual switch to control firing modes, the Janus edition allows you to seamlessly shift between glass and ceramic work depending on your creative needs.

Why choose the PARAGON CT102322 Janus?

The CT102322 Janus features a 10-sided round chamber with an interior diameter of 23” and a height of 22”, for a spacious 5.10 cubic feet of firing volume. The kiln’s wide diameter makes it ideal for firing plates, platters, or larger batch loads, while its moderate depth ensures easy access and efficient stacking. It’s the perfect centerpiece for any busy ceramics or mixed-media studio.

Janus Firing: Dual Modes for Maximum Flexibility

The standout feature of this model is its Janus dual firing system:

  • Glass Mode: activates the top and middle sidewall elements—perfect for fusing, slumping, or sagging large glass designs evenly across a single shelf.

  • Pottery Mode: activates only the sidewall elements—for even, surround heating ideal for bisque, glaze, or high-fire cone 10 ceramics.

With a flip of the switch, you can move between clay and glass without needing separate equipment. This is the ultimate kiln for artists who work in multiple mediums, or institutions that want to offer both without doubling their investment.

Durability Meets Convenience

  • 3” thick firebrick throughout for optimal insulation

  • Solid state relay (SSR) for quieter, more energy-efficient, and longer-lasting performance

  • AOP (Auxiliary Outlet Plug) and vent-ready design, pre-drilled for easy VentMaster installation

  • Dropped, recessed element grooves—no pins required

  • Top row of grooveless 2” blank bricks to minimize chipping during loading

  • Reversible firebrick floor to extend kiln life

  • Patented LiteLid spring system—a lid lift solution that eliminates pulleys and counterweights while enabling effortless, one-handed operation

  • Drop-down switch box, hinged at the bottom and supported by a folding arm for easy maintenance

  • Heavy galvanized steel base that folds under the case for added chamber reinforcement

  • Dust-resistant coating on lid, peepholes, and rim to protect components

  • Lock-in lid support with positive catch

  • Large, tapered peepholes for quick visual checks

  • Fire directly on the brick bottom for full capacity

  • Certified to CSA and UL Standard 499

Get a Kiln Vent: Cleaner Air, Better Firings, and Peace of Mind

The Orton Vent Master is more than a fume extractor—it’s an essential upgrade for serious ceramic artists and studios. By actively drawing fumes from your kiln and replacing them with fresh oxygen, the Vent Master improves both firing results and your working environment.

Better Results with Every Firing
  • Pulls in fresh oxygen for brighter glaze colors—especially reds and oranges

  • Reduces glaze cross-contamination, letting you fire red and green glazes in the same load

  • Promotes even heat distribution throughout the kiln chamber

  • Helps eliminate common issues like:

    • Bloating

    • Pinholes and pitting

    • Dark patches

    • Porcelain mildew

    • Blisters and bubbles

Cleaner, Safer Studio Environment
  • Removes fumes that contain volatile metals, fluorides, and sulfur compounds

  • Lets you safely fire lusters, metallics, decals, and pâte de verre without strong odors

  • Keeps harmful exhaust out of your workspace by venting it outside

Built for Efficiency and Ease
  • Slight increase in firing time: ~5 minutes (cone 04), ~12 minutes (cone 10)

  • Reduces cooling time by up to 2 hours from 1000°F to room temperature

  • Minimal power usage—just 132 watts (pennies per firing)

  • Helps extend the life of your Kiln Sitter tube assembly by keeping fumes away

  • Remote motor placement means no kiln vibration and cooler, longer-lasting fan operation

Smart Installation and Compatibility
  • Your PARAGON CT kiln comes Kiln Vent ready. This means that it's already pre-drilled for your convenience.

  • You won't need a separate 120V wall outlet as your PARAGON CT kiln includes an AOP (Auxiliary Outlet Plug) to power the Kiln Vent.

  • On your PARAGON CT, the Kiln Vent can be installed to the bottom of the kiln

    • You will need a kiln stand. Remember ordering yours!

  • The Kiln Vent comes with a 3’ long 2” duct that connects the collection cup to the motor

  • You should use a standard 4” aluminum dryer duct or 4” PVC pipe to vent outside (do not use vinyl duct)

  • Remote motor placement means no kiln vibration and cooler, longer-lasting fan operation

  • Can be used to vent two kilns with the optional Expansion Kit

Certified and approved:
