PARAGON KM9 Pro Double Barrel: Double-Wide Power in a Compact Frame

Twice the width. Same legendary control.

The PARAGON KM9 Pro Double Barrel brings expanded capacity to the smallest member of the KM Pro Series. Designed for bladesmiths who need more room without stepping up to a longer kiln, this model doubles the internal width of the standard KM9 Pro—giving you more blade space, better airflow, and greater efficiency for batch heat treating.

With a 13" wide x 5.3" high x 9" deep ceramic fiber chamber and all the power, speed, and precision of the KM Pro line, the Double Barrel format is ideal for production-focused knife makers, multi-blade firing, or anyone working on oversized profiles that demand extra space.

Why choose the PARAGON KM9 Pro Double Barrel?

This model was built for maximum productivity in minimal space. Its wide chamber fits multiple knives side-by-side without crowding and offers better circulation during both hardening and tempering cycles. You’ll still enjoy the fast ramp-up and cooldown that the KM Pro line is known for—thanks to its lightweight 2½” ceramic fiber insulation and surface-mounted “wavy” heating elements.

Whether you’re batch-treating EDC blades or prototyping new designs, the KM9 Pro Double Barrel gives you room to grow while maintaining the accuracy and consistency professionals demand.

Serious heat treating features in a wider format

  • Solid-State Relay (SSR): All KM Pro models include a silent, highly durable solid-state relay for smoother holds, longer element life, and zero mechanical noise. Mounted to a heat-dissipating aluminum sink and paired with a secondary safety relay for added reliability.

  • ¼” Type-K Exposed-Tip Thermocouple: Built from “special limit” wire for maximum precision and fast controller response. Designed and assembled in the USA.

  • Single-Zone Control: The Sentinel SmartTouch Controller automatically manages temperature via the central thermocouple for even chamber heating and repeatable results.

  • Guillotine-Style Door: Opens upward and out of the way for safe one-handed access. Heavy-duty springs and hinges ensure durability and smooth operation.

  • Safety Door Switch: Deactivates the heating elements when the door opens—without interrupting your temperature readout.

Optional Add-Ons

  • Gas Injection Flow Meter (GIFM): Create a low-oxygen atmosphere with inert gas to minimize scale and improve blade finish.

  • Solenoid Valve Kit: Automate gas flow during programmed firing stages for added precision.

  • Knifemaking Kit: Includes supports and racks to keep blades parallel and evenly heated during the cycle.

Get a Gas Injection Flow Meter (GIFM) and Solenoid Kit

Achieving a clean, scale-free blade finish during heat treatment isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s about quality, consistency, and minimizing post-processing time. The Gas Injection Flow Meter (GIFM) is a trusted tool among professional bladesmiths and heat treaters for precisely that reason.

Minimize Scale, Maximize Results

During high-temperature heat treating, oxygen in the kiln chamber reacts with the steel surface, producing unwanted oxidation scale. Traditionally, this has been mitigated using stainless steel foil wrap—a solution that works, but comes with added cost, time, and waste.

With the GIFM installed, you can introduce an inert gas like argon or nitrogen directly into the firing chamber. This displaces oxygen and significantly reduces oxidation, helping you:

  • Eliminate or reduce the need for stainless foil

  • Retain sharper blade edges and crisper grind lines

  • Improve consistency in finish and minimize cleanup

  • Create a cleaner working environment

Precise Control and Automation with the Optional Solenoid Kit
Take control even further with the Solenoid Valve Kit, which works in tandem with the GIFM. This upgrade lets you:
  • Automate gas flow by turning it on/off at specific stages of the firing process (per segment)

  • Ensure gas is flowing only when needed—saving resources and increasing safety

  • Achieve repeatable, precision-controlled atmospheres in your heat treating cycles

Perfect for advanced users and production settings, this upgrade transforms your kiln into a highly efficient and customizable heat treating system.

Trusted by Professionals

This system has been field-proven by bladesmiths, metalworkers, and heat treatment professionals who demand the best finish and tightest process control.

Whether you’re eliminating scale on high-carbon steel or refining your results with stainless alloys, the GIFM with optional solenoid valve gives you an edge—literally and figuratively.
