PARAGON FIBERFUSE16: Lightweight, Fast, and Built for Creative Momentum
The PARAGON FiberFuse was developed for artists, educators, and experimental studios that value speed, efficiency, and responsive thermal control. Built with ceramic fiber insulation rather than traditional firebrick, FiberFuse kilns heat up and cool down faster—making them ideal for quick glass firings, frequent batch testing, and portable instruction. Whether you’re fusing glass tiles, slumping forms, or layering dichroic sheets, the FiberFuse Series gives you flexibility without sacrificing precision.
What makes the PARAGON FiberFuse-16 special
The PARAGON FiberFuse16 is a compact, energy-efficient kiln that fires up to 1700°F (926°C) on a standard 120V household outlet—making it as accessible as a common hair dryer, but built for serious studio work. It uses just 1800 watts, making it perfect for artists who need affordable firing in shared, classroom, or home studio spaces.
Its defining feature is its high-tech 2” ceramic fiber insulation on all sides, which holds heat exceptionally well yet absorbs far less thermal mass than firebrick. This results in faster ramp-up and cooling times, ideal for:
-
Short-cycle production
-
Quick turnaround on test pieces
-
Jewelry-scale fused glass
-
Classroom instruction with multiple firings per session
Designed for Control, Speed, and Safety
The PARAGON FiberFuse16 is equipped with surface-mounted sinusoidal sidewall elements, eliminating the need for recessed grooves and improving heat response and insulation efficiency. The element layout is so well-balanced that the kiln does not require lid elements to achieve uniform glass fusing results.
The lightweight lid, reinforced with a steel shell and cool-touch wooden handle, opens easily with one hand—even during long hold times. A standard lid safety switch automatically disconnects power from the heating elements when the lid is opened and resumes firing when closed, adding an essential layer of safety.
Inside, the fast-response, exposed-tip thermocouple ensures temperature accuracy, even during sensitive holding segments for glass annealing or slumping.
Industrial-Grade Electrical Integrity
The kiln’s components are built to last:
-
The control panel is slotted for ventilation, keeping electrical systems cool and extending relay life
-
Heavy-gauge, nickel-plated copper wiring, wrapped in high-temperature glass-braided insulation
-
Built-in steel base with mar-proof rubber feet eliminates the need for a separate stand
-
On/off toggle switch allows you to completely power down the kiln between sessions
For long-term durability, you can upgrade the standard mechanical relay to either:
-
A solid state relay (preferred in most states, virtually silent, millions of cycles of life)
-
Or, where permitted, a deluxe mercury relay, which offers unmatched mechanical longevity
Note: Mercury relays are banned in several U.S. states. Always verify local regulations before ordering.
The Perfect Kiln For:
-
Glass artists who need quick firing cycles
-
Instructors teaching fusing or painting classes with limited turnaround time
-
Jewelry makers firing small batches of pendants, cabochons, or dichroic glass
-
Test labs and studios looking to trial new glass techniques without tying up large kilns
-
